Catharsis co-founders Marsha Hemmings and Effie Makary

Treating patients, with great patience

As a registered nurse, Marsha Hemmings has administered fluids intravenously countless times in the ICU and ER units of a large health system in southern New Jersey and Philadelphia. She has honed her IV catheter placement skills to an expert level.

Marsha has seen firsthand the benefits of IV infusions and how the treatments can work wonders for people and in many cases, enhance the healing process.

Based on this experience, she partnered with her longtime friend, Effie Makary, to launch a mobile IV therapy service named Catharsis. Effie, being of Greek descent, was raised in Australia, lived in Bahrain and Dubai, and worked as a private flight attendant travelling the world. She brings a wealth of customer service experience and multicultural accommodation to her role as head of operations.

Today, the Catharsis team travels within a 90-minute radius of Burlington County, New Jersey, to serve patients of all backgrounds in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Whether a tired mom needing a boost, a wedding party making the most of the big day, or even an athlete preparing for a marathon, Catharsis is dedicated to providing safe solutions in an empathetic environment. Helping you to feel better as fast as possible to get you back to living.
